
More details about the Sony PS3 have been revealed by Ken Kutaragi Sony Computer Entertainments president.
In an interview on a Japanese technology website (PC Impress Watch), Kutaragi said that PS3 basic online services would be free.
Kutaragi stated that Sony does plan to charge for downloadable content giving the company a healthy revenue but there will be no charge whatsoever for the basic online services. He said "You can't charge money for network matching and other basic services. These things are just taken for granted on the PC."
He also reaffirmed that Sony is committed to promoting the PS3 online capabilities, saying, "We really wanted to do this with the PS2.But now Apple has realised a successful e-distribution program, it's about time we made our move, too".
