To further reinforce their point that the PSP is not just a gaming machine, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced four new titles that will be released in the Universal Media Disc (UMD) format that the player recognises.
The titles, XXX, Hellboy, Resident Evil Apocalypse and Once Upon a Time in Mexico add to the already announced Spiderman 2 release in UMD format, bringing the total number of films so far to five. More films are to be released on a monthly cycle.
The PSP looks set to rock the handheld devices market. As well as being the most powerful handheld gaming machine out there, the device features wireless networking and expandable storage, so it can double up as a fully featured media player. Additions to the device may also include a web browser, and if Sony ever release a keyboard this could be the one device fits all solution that the world has been waiting for.
We're eagerly waiting to see what Sony come up with next for the PSP. So far it's been a good start, and we can only hope that they continue to impress. We'll keep you posted.
